summer and gestational diabetes?
"So I have gestational diabetes. I already had it in my first pregnancy so I was kinda prepared for this"… or so I thought. My problem now is that all the recipes I used during my first pregnancy had to be prepared by either grilling, cooking or baking and lets be honest who wants that kind of work when they are 30 weeks pregnant and the general temperature is about 95 degrees outside and its kinda hard to keep the house cool. So does anyone have any good summer recipes for salads or some no cook food that wont drive my blood-sugar into the sky. Maybe some low carb smoothies or something similar.
My first pregnancy was during the winter so it didn’t bother me as much to cook.

So many people post like they are these all organic, healthy, we cook every night parents and I wonder are that many of you really like that. I see it here and when i was in nb & b

I am not. We get some organic fruits and veggies. But, we eat out at least once a week, we have juice and have been know to get fast food once a week too… Mainly chi fila but, i dont hate McDonalds.

When we cook and eat out we always get a veggie. If we have fast food, then we make sure to get a fruit.
Lol – my daughter eats better than I do as well. I just recently changed that. I have been making sandwiches or having leftover for lunch at work. Today i brought in a weeks worth of salad stuff for work too.
pdooma – I wish we could cook homemade everynight, my husband gets home with our daughter about 545 and I get in at 630. So has has been stuck cooking fast dishes with little to no effort, he is stuck on a job about 1.5 hours away from home. He used to grill almost everynight and i loved it. Grilled anything is good for me.
BTW – I am not giving any TD, the fairys are out tonight.

I have a horrendous work schedule.
I work from 8 am-1 pm and 4pm to 2 am most days. I never have a full day off. On my days off, I get in lots of extra sleep that I’ve been missing, and I go shopping or get my hair cut. Whatever.

I have found that, famished after work, eating junkfood at 2 am and then passing out for 4-5 hours is no way to stay healthy, and no sleep, no time, bad diet has left me in horrendous shape after 2 years. I am finally embarrassed, but I don’t know what to do. I simply don’t have the time to come home, change, eat, go to the gym, come home, shower, sleep, and then go to work during the day. And after a 8-10 hour shift, I cannot go hungry at night. I can’t sleep if I don’t eat. And I’m just a mess.

I need some sort of routine that I can do, even if I’m dead exhausted and need sleep, or some sort of dietary plan that I can use that will enable me to operate and prepare quickly or something.
I know that it won’t work if I only work out 1 or 2 days a week, but I’m dying. I am turning into a monster of blubber and it’s ridiculous.

I have tried low calorie concepts like the SlimFast Diet and weight watchers stuff, but it makes me tired and ineffective at work, which is more disastrous when I am running on 3 hours of sleep. I am considering atkins or a low carb diet thing, but lots of that seems to require more cooking than I can handle, and I don’t want to jump into a pure diet plan without exercise either. I want my move to be solid and effective, whatever I do next. So any sources for plans or ideas will be helpful.

Is there any sort of plan for somebody with my lifestyle? A no time workout/diet plan? Preferably something that I don’t have to leave my place to do? (I have run around the block a few times. So I don’t mean that I need to be completely confined to my place. I just don’t have the time to go driving around town).

And please don’t tell me to get a different job. I would if I knew how to get one, but right now, I seriously am more concerned with sleeping on a pillow vs. a sidewalk.

Ok I lost 20 pounds in since this passed June by walking to and from work everyday without changing my eating habits. I walk 3 miles to work and 3 miles home. At times I walk 2 miles during lunch. I eat oatmeal or cereal for breakfast, fruit for snack, a low cal sandwich for lunch. I cook healthy dinners for my family during the week. BUT we eat out every weekend and I just go to town at the restaruants! I love eating out. I order a decent meal with 2 drinks :/ I can’t help it! I wish I had more self control at the restauraunts but I don’t. I’m still not happy with how I look, I still have 10 pounds to go. I have to change my eating out habits.

On Tuesday/2/2011 at Starbucks downtown , I interviewed Mark Batmen for about 20 minutes . Batmen is briefly tell us how junk food effects our body . In the interview, we talked about Junk Food. I learned that Batmen believes that Junk food can destroy humanity.
Batmen told me that Fast food is the worst food people have during day time . People eating fast food because we made a life -style needs a lot of work with less time for activities. People eat too much Fast food , and they don’t cook healthy food . This habit can destroy a body because the human body needs fiber . In addition , he compares his life in Africa to his life in Canada , In Africa , people eat for longer time, and women are responsible to cook food that has enough nutritional that support her family . In Kenya, she did see any fast food restaurant while she was their , and people refuse to eat food is not home made . while people in Canada do not care about quality of food they are eating. People looking for food that they can eat it for two minutes .Furthermore, Fast-food can destroy relationship because families are not able to set and talk to each other that make families do not have time to talk and share. She believes that a lot of calories make brain work less effective . To illustrate , A person who eat too much fast food can destroy his /her life.

Need some ideas really quick.

I work at the airport as a baggage handler. We have a very light day, so I’m bringing in my PS3 and want to make something tasty for the guys. Kinda throw a bit of a "party."

I got a crock pot and a bunch of stuff in the fridge. Any ideas of some tasty "guy dish" to throw together that can cook overnight in the crock and I can take in tomorrow? Not chili — unless you have an awesome chili recipe from god. And not anything that will require anything once it’s cooking except for me to unplug the pot, remove the liner and put in a spoon.

I am looking for a good light weight small can/pot to use when I go backpacking. So I will be using it to boil water/cook over an open fire.
