The Bible does NOT claim that it is a science book. What it does tell us is; God’s plan of redemption, how He has interacted with humanity and Christian living. Nothing more.
A basic rule of interpreting any text, is to do so in light of what the text claims of itself.
When Christ began His ministry He preached first "repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand." Matt. 4:17, this is supported by Mark 1:15. Not one single solitary mention of the dynamics of creation, biology, chemistry, mathematics, or any other modern science.
Friends the Bible, "The Bible tells us how to go to heaven, not how the heavens go." Galileo. "The universe has been wrought for us by a supremely good and orderly Creator," Copernicus. "The Spirit of God who spoke through [the Biblical writers] did not choose to teach about the heavens to men, as it was of no use for salvation," Augustine.
I enjoy Clive Cusslers adventure novel, but I wouldn’t grab one if I wanted a reciepe for apple pie, I’d get a cookbook

I think that instead of people thinking the Bible is a science book, they refuse to believe anything that can not be backed up by science. Science can not explain "the parting of the Red Sea" so in the minds of the scientific it is not true.

I don’t know anyone who does that. Especially since it was written in a 1500 year time period by over 40 authors. No one expects it to be a science book.

Because that is how fragile many religions are. For the bible to be in err in ANY way invalidates their position.

People like easy answers. Knowing science means you have to study lots of books. Knowing "God’s plan" means you only have to study one book.

The Bible claims to be the truth, so when it speaks to science, it is truth. There are many scientific principles in the Bible. When it speaks to spiritual principles it also speaks the truth.

I claim it contains the truth about all things.
If you find that to be contradictory to science then it’s you with the problem and not the truth of the Bible.

The text CLAIMS to be PERFECT and Christian god inspired.

Oh but so much of science is revealed in the Bible long before man discovered it for himself. For example, the Bible explained the world is round, the sun and moon revolve around the earth, the life is in the blood and much, much more before man every discovered those truths. Though not a science book…it does have much science in it.

An underlying premise behind your question, however, is that somehow, science is above the reach of God; that it is pure and rational and can be approached only on the basis of something we would view as objective reasoning.
Yet do you realize how much in the world "science" is really based on theory and "faith" in these theories?
Christians believe the Bible to be true and infallible. We also know that our God-given ability to reason helps us develop "sciences" that enable the creation/ development/ inventions of things like the smallpox vaccine, antibiotics, aluminum, and toothpaste. But behind each of these scientific inventions lies God and His creation.
One day, all science will fail, but God never will.

I imagine because so many take it word for word, they miss everything between the lines. The real lessons in these stories, and a real history. If people wouldn’t debate the passages as facts (other than the fact they were written) then science fans wouldn’t be so eager to disprove it. All religious texts provide valuable information, but to take to heart every word can be irresponsible (fanatics of all kinds). And there is science in the Bible, rudimentary and erroneous at times, it is there beyond the word or definition.
