Ok so her birthday isn’t for another four months (exactly as of tomorrow!!!) however I am an OCD over organizer and I like to have everything done/ready/planned WELL in advance. I have had a really tough time picking a theme for her second birthday..but after finding a cute fairy theme (not like disney fairies or anything just general) cookbook in Michaels over the weekend I made up my mind. We live in southern NJ and during mi-djuly it can get quite warm during the day but I really like outdoor birthdays whenever possible. So since it’s going to be a "midsummer night’s Birthday" along the lines of a midsummer night’s dream just like with all the colors ect. But with a cute birthday spin. So I am thinking of having it start around 5:15ish and we’ll serve dinner foods along with all my fairy theme snacks. And I will have it go until about 7:30-8:00 whenever everyone wants to leave by. We have a large back yard and lots of lights so it will be nice. Also her gift from us is that hubby is building her a play house; but it’s going to be seriously hooked up (he/his father own a construction company so they’re bulding it) and we are going to hang twinkle lights from it ect and make it a "fairy lounge" for the kids to play in. But my question is like when you think of fairies what comes to mind? Not like Tinkerbell but just in general. And also there will be about 12 kids there ranging from 8 years to 6 months with 4 of them being boys; how can I include the boys without making thier fathers cringe? And for invites I was thinking a darker blue paper and printing them in hot pink ink and adding silver star dtails and little multi colored swirls. Any other ideas?

    This sounds lovely!!
What a lucky little girl! =)
When I think of fairies I think of pretty little green and pink glittery dresses with garlands in their hair.
Hmmm…tricky situation for boys?? Didn’t they just wear robes?
The invites also sound lovely, possibly do one colour for the boys and one for the girls?
Sounds as though you have it all sorted!
Happy birthday to your daughter and hope you have a brilliant day!

Well for the boys you could make them hunters. I always think of woods when i think of fairies for some reason. Maybe make the boys cute little robin hood hats and get some little fake bow and arrows. For the little girls i would get little fairy wings for them. That way the kids are in theme.

For the boys, you could add some pirate stuff in, which is theme appropriate.

A Cricut machine can make lots of things really cool for her playhouse, like painted stencils, and you can paint fairies on their for her. Also, you can do the invitations with it, and use it forever for scrapbooking. You could put little swords and maybe a lighthouse on the front for the boy’s invitations, with gold stars.

Hawaiin type of foods would be cool for the theme also, including things like chocolate dipped bananas, and fresh pineapple cubes which are healthier for the kids than pizza.

Also, be very, very careful how you put the twnkle lights onto the playhouse, as kids that age can pull bulbs and get shocked, and they could be a strangling hazzard. I’d put a recessed, cut out area, and add rope lights, with screw in holders to keep them from being kid accessble. Also, a high up strobe light with it’s own motor and colored lights might be more appropriate than twinkle lights all over.

With the Island Fairy, and Pirate theme, adults could wear Hawaiin shirts, and even bathing suits for fun, and you can add fairy crowns to them. Have fun!
