How can I make soup???

I know that is a stupid question, but im only 19 and never really cooked before.

I want to make some soup for myself, but I dont really know how, and I dont want to keep buying cans, cause they are loaded in sodium.

And if i buy my own, campbells tomato sauce, and other chicken broth is loaded in sodium also,…….are there any kinds of other broths??

Looking for really healthy soup recipes…..lots of veggies, beans, some meat, maybe only grilled chicken….low sodium, low cal, low fat, low carb……

fresh is always best! Go to your local bookstore for some amazing books about making soups. What you may need is a step by step visual guide to help you create. Yummy! happy soup making.

I like using the Campbell’s low-sodium broth (I think it’s called healthy request (???), it usually has a green banner across the label). I thinkNatural Goodness has low-sodium versions as well. If you have Whole Foods, Henry’s, or Trader Joe’s, they usually have a selection of low-sodium broths for sale too.

To make your own, save your bones/carcass from a roast chicken or turkey. Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the carcass (might have to cut up to fit under water), carrots, celery, onions, etc. (basically, any veggie you like the taste of; veggie skins and toppers you usually throw away can be saved and used here too) to the water and boil for a few hours. Strain the liquid through a mesh sieve and voila, you have your own chicken and veggie broth fit for soup or cooking with.

Buy bouillon. start with a large pot and add water and bouillon. Like a vegetable boullion. Add celery and green onions, cut up a couple potatoes in small pieces, squash, any vegetables you want. add the beans at the end because overcooking they will be mushy. I eat soup every day!
