Has anyone learned any of the following at school?
* How to distinguish between good and bad debt, sort your personal finances, manage your purse, pay taxes correctly and what to be insured for.
* How to ride a bicycle safely, how to ride a car or motorcycle and what the do’s and don’t are in traffic.
* How to cook healthy dinners. The positives and negatives of different foods, getting acquainted with food from different cultures.
* How to handle employment and unemployment, benefits, how to seek employment abroad and locally, differences in pension schemes, ISA’s etc
* How to not get pregnant to get a girl pregnant before a graduation or a few career steps.
.. I know the parents need to teach children certain things and values, but if you spent just wee bit of time around Manchester estates you know it’s a flawed concept. Especially financial education needs to be a school subject, surely.. It’s not a state responsibility until we all crumble under a credit crunch?

Most of those things were covered in my schools. But ALL of them should be covered by parents.

I think most of the things you mentioned you should learn from your parents. Ask them if you need to know, you might discover they know more than you think.

Why do people rely on schools to teach everything?
These things need to be taught by the family. It’s not the state’s job to raise our kids.

Because they don’t want you to grown up and think for yourself
They want to control you.

A lot of that stuff you must learn through experience. You don’t need a teacher to tell you how to live your life. Read up on things yourself before you make a decision.
