What can I make with fresh tofu?
I’ve never eaten or cooked tofu before, but my boyfriend randomly bought some the other day saying he wanted to try it, although we are both meat eaters. I’ve had a look on the net for some recipes but most seem quite complicated, using ingredients I’ve never heard of or that I dont want to buy in just for this one meal!
Any simple cooking ideas/recipes would be gratefully received! We love veg and we’re both trying to follow a fairly low-carb diet at the moment.
Many thanks to all who reply!

I was going to suggest you make a nice Thai coconut curry with your tofu, but someone else has beaten me to it!
Tofu is very bland, so I tend to use it with spicy, "warm" dishes.
Keep in mind when cooking, that if you want the tofu to keep it’s shape and not crumbled, then make sure you get "extra firm" or "firm" tofu.

You may prepare a "caprese" salad using the tofu instead of mozzarella chese.

You can make a tofu scramble. Make it like scrambled eggs, but with spinach, garlic, and olive oil.

1 teaspoon onion powder
Warm Coconaut milk on stove, add Coconut Milk and other spices, with curry being added first, mix all spices unitll they are mixed in, add tofu, and your favoite veggies. This sauce is a very good recipe you should try it.
You can add less or more spices depending on your tolerence for spicy foodtolerance

Is is firm? medium? silken?
Firm/medium is good to make Pepper Salt Tofu. Deep fry cubes about the size of dice and season with hot pepper sauce (Sirracha is nice) and salt
Looking for easy/quick? Throw it in the wok with you fav veggies and season with soy sauce, ginger and chilli paste
Silken tofu is creamy and makes an excellent base for "creamy" sauces and dips.

Like making cheese it alot of effort and cost just to make a small amount, and like bread, you have to make it a number of days each week, believe and I know buy good organic soya made with organic soya beans, I get silken, medium and firm for my dishes and make soups, desserts, stuffed tofu, stir fried dishes and stewed one like spicy Ma Po Tofu with TVP and lots f chili peppers, even products like TVP and soya chunks are made from the tilings of the tofu process, there as versatile as tofu itself.
