I started my new diet and i have been eating vegetable, basically just broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and celery…are there any ways to cook them and make them taste better without adding butter or a lot of salt or anything? I know you can steam vegetables, but I’m not good at cooking…so how would I do that??

There are a few ways to steam. There is a pan insert you can buy that makes it easy. http://www.amazon.com/Trudeau-Stainless-Steel-Vegetable-Steamer/dp/B00062B0K6/ref=sr_1_21/177-9242400-1613636?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1261356564&sr=1-21 You can find them in most stores. Here are steaming directions and times. http://www.bonappetit.com/tipstools/tips/2009/04/how_to_steam_vegetables
Steamed veggies do taste good by themselves. If you want to add flavor, there are actually of lot of yummy things to add or combinations. Some are easy and others take more time. It’s up to you. I use just a little olive oil or other healthy oils. =)
Green beans with lemon, almonds and a little olive oil.
Zucchini with basil.
Peas with mint or tarragon
Carrots with orange juice and ginger and nutmeg
With broccoli you can make a sauce of olive oil, lemon, chopped olives and a little feta cheese to pour over.
In general, you can use a little miso, low sodium soy sauce, garlic, red peppers, sesame seeds, lemon juice or zest, parmesean, balsamic vinegar, pesto, fresh tomato salsa, or even jalapeno jelly. Healthy salad dressings of all kinds make a nice topping on veggies.
Lemon-Mustard sauce for Steamed Veggies
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 teaspoons Dijon or stone ground mustard
Salt and pepper if desired.
Cauliflower is great baked with stoned ground mustard on it. If you steam cauliflower plain, you can puree it with chicken broth to make a mashed potato substitute. Also, people steam potatoes and cauflower and mash them together.
Also, you can use broth or water with herbs, onion or garlic. It infuses the flavor in the veggies. =)

You can steam them in a microwave, in a glass bowl with a little water & covered in plastic wrap.
A few good seasonings- fat-free Italian dressing, lots of salt & pepper, seasoned salt, fat-free ranch or Catalina dressing.

salt and butter make the vegetables taste better and are not fattening! Fattening are all the pastas, rices, root veggies and breads and cereals the government has convinced us we need to eat.
To steam or barely cook the veggie, place a strainer over a pot of boiling water with the veggie in it. put the lid on and allow it to cook for about 3 to 5 minutes.
I put the frozen veggies in a micro safe bowl, cover it tightly with plastic cling wrap, jab a fork hole in it and nuke it for about 5 to 8 minutes.
Mrs Dash salt substitutes are mostly herbs and spices and are great when you are restricted by medical reasons from any sort of fat or oil in the food plan.

Good for you! Try roasting the veggies. For example, cauliflower and carrots. Cut them up so they are equal size, spritz with Pam spray and roast for 30 minutes or tender. Get a steamer insert so you can steam the veg. Put an inch of water in a saucepan, put in insert, bring water to brisk simmer, add your veg. Cook till tender. I do this with carrots, snow peas, sugar snap peas, sweet potato, and green beans.

Easy
) Salt, Pepper, Dill and/or Rosemary OR you could dip them in mayonnaise seasoned with dill
1) Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil
2) Chop some vegetables (Green beans, Cauliflower etc. use your imagination)
3) Add them to the pot
4) Boil until tender (usually five minuets)
5) Add a bit of margarine (you need some fat in your diet just a little won’t hurt
6) Enjoy being skinny
