Also look at low glycaemic foods suggested for people with diabetes. And think of it more as eating plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables and having less highly processed foods. As a married woman of nearly 20 years I suggest if he wants to go on a diet get him to do some research too and learn to cook some meals. Its great your being supportive, but if you’re doing the cooking all the time it becomes a routine that’s hard to break later. It has been great to see how much my father-in-law is enjoying finally cooking for his wife of 45 years while she has been recovering from a broken pelvis. My 15 year old son has to cook at least one meal a week for our family… he’s 6 foot 4 and eats like a horse.

More vegetables and fruits, less bread, pasta and grains.

you dont want any pasta, bread, noodles, rice, potatos etc

just cook chicken or steak and loads of veggies or you could do homemade soups, salads with chicken in, fish,

just cook smaller portions and dont serve more than 1 carb at a meal

you must have carbs for a halthy body!!

    fish
    vegetables
    lean meats
    chicken/turkey

    no sausages/bangers/ham/pork—fatty meats

    eat
    potatos
    corn
    brown rice
    wild rice
    bread-sparingly

just count the items you are serving…1 meat, 1 vegetable,1 carb, fruit

corn is a carb look up carbs

you could make him stuff like chili or chicken breasts with lime. meat is probably going to be your best bet on this one… with lots of veggies and fruits and dairy on the side. steak and applesauce is delicious.
