    @keithsnow: Thank you so much for a simple recipe! I’ve made other greens but have always been nervous about collard greens. I see from your comment below that they do not HAVE to be cooked for 1 hour. Don’t think my family could eat a vegetable that has been cooked that long!

    @spbroy 20-25 minutes to be fully cooked

    PS we eat them very lightly steamed..sometimes 5 minutes….

    well im going to try to cook these for the first time and im going to cook the not so healthy version with salt pork so water would be better obviously…also is the olive oil necessary or for optimal flavor? and u just leave them undisturbed for the hour? and under medium heat?

    Thank you. I bought some collard greens for the first time today and am going to riff on your recipe. I didn’t get nearly as much as you have there, so I’m going to mix it with some red kale I have in the crisper. Hopefully it’ll go okay!

    This recipe is pretty good. To make it vegetarian, I used vegetable stock instead of chicken stock. Tastes very good!
