He has gained 70lbs in 2 years and its taking its toll. I have tried to broach the subject but when I do it ends up in an argument. I hear how heavy he breathes and it frightens me, I want to grow old with him. I need suggestions on how I get him to see what he’s doing to himself. I have suggested us taking up a sport together , cook healthy meals but I cannot be at his side all the time. Any suggestions .. I’m 128lbs not overweight but need to keep active to control my weight. Oh and he assures me that he’s happy!

Tell him your going for a walk and you want him to join you so you can spend time together. turn it into a daily thing after dinner. Start "trying" new recipes that just happen to be very healthy. if you do the grocery shopping stop buying junk food. if it’s not easily available he’s less likely to eat it. buy more fruits and veggies instead.

buy life insurance on him, one day you are going to wake up next to a corpse……….
if he doesn’t change his ways…….
he may not be capable of a sport, you may have to settle for long walks initially…….

Cook his meals for him.. Make him diet and don’t allow him to eat fast food around you. If he suggests going out to eat, tell him you would much prefer to stay home and cook. My husband has lost about 40 lbs over the past year (he is in great shape now as he became more active when the weight came off). I cook for him everyday and make sure he gets fresh whole veggies, spices, and healthy portions. Most men are just as they were when they were little boys when it comes to food. They like to be taken care of and know that they are well fed.

Forget the cynical messages here. He probably needs a diet and some exercise. If you cannot persuade him, someone in authority………..?
