I am a 20-something young physically disabled woman in south Wiltshire area looking to employ somebody part-time to help in a general capacity, mostly fetching and carrying for me with a bit of cooking and light housework sometimes too, personal care limited to pushing wheelchair around house and helping me transfer to and from shower/toilet. Can anyone advise an appropriate rate for this kind of work?
(We’re all feeling the pinch a bit like everyone else but would still like to pay a fair wage.)

Well, if you are willing to pay a person what they are worth, you will get someone who will do a decent job. A would say 5 pounds above minimum wage.

The current legal minimum wage is £5.73 per hour. The problem is… if you pay peanuts… you get monkeys.

£5.80 is minimum wage, based on experience, may suggest £6.00 x 3 hour per day, just work out what you want, then you can cost it, then advertise but be careful, there may be some advice available at local council, care and help
