I have this posted in the food section too but thought possibly someone here could help!
I spent a college semester in Spain and wish I knew what kind of soup my ‘Spanish mother’ served. I remember it had a broth base with chick peas and maybe green beans and was topped with a cooked egg. I think the broth was light colored so it was either chicken broth or something comparable, maybe garlic?
It was so good and I wish I could re-create at home…please let me know if it sounds familiar

Probably the soup you are looking for is Sopa de Picadillo.
But it could also be Sopa de Puchero or Sopa de Cocido.
All typically spanish home cooking.

Try Cocido Madrileño.
I’ve never had it with the egg, but that was the chick pea soup that MY house mom used to make.
If you can’t find a recipe…email me, and I’ll find it for you…it’s in Spanish, and it uses all metric, which isn’t so much a problem except when they weigh things that we measure volume!

I think it might be sopa de picadillo… but look at the other recipes
I wanted to add that the Egg on top is for the protine, because soup was a peasent food and didn’t have much fat.
many people still make soup with or after an egg
(I hate it!) there is a Balear soup that has scrambled egg floating on toast in the soup it make’s me feel sick !!
Hope you find the right recipe, but just as with EVERY recipe there are many vairents, not only online but inside Towns, Families and Regions
maybe you could write to your hostess explaining to her how much you liked the soup and that she has inspired you to make it !!
