Chocolate Crackles
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
6 Tablespoons butter
3 squares (3 ounces) unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoon real vanilla
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt Confectioner’s sugar
Cream the butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Add the melted chocolate and sugar and blend well. Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to the creamed mixture and blend well.
Refrigerate 3 hours, or until firm. Shape the dough into balls about one inch. Dredge each ball in confectioner’s sugar (powdered sugar). Coat thoroughly. Put on cookie sheet, two inches apart. Cookies may seem slightly underdone, but will firm up after cooking, when they cool.
Bake 10 to 12 minutes on a greased cookie sheet or use parchment paper.
Ok, it asks for 1 1/2 cups of sugar, that seems to much for me, since i will also be using the Confectioner’s sugar. How much sugar can i change it to without losing the taste. and sorry i have not tried this recipe yet, i just found it yesterday at this web site:

I wouldn’t suggest taking any sugar out since you are using unsweetened chocolate. It’s extremely bitter, almost mouth puckering. You will most likely need the sugar, even with the confectioners on top. I would suggest trying recipes before altering.

The confectioners sugar will not add a lot of sweetness as it is just a "dusting"
But I would only go down to 1 cup.

Here’s my recipe for comparison
1/4 cup butter
2 cups sugar
3 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
4×1 oz. squares chocolate, melted
2 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. bkg. pwdr.
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup icing sugar
Cream butter and sugar. Beat in eggs one at a time. Mix in vanilla and chocolate.
Stir flour, pwdr. and salt together. Add and mix well. Shape into 1′ balls.
Roll balls in icing sugar. Coat well,. Bake at 350 for 8-12 min. Makes 6 doz.

I don’t think this is too much sugar based on the flour and also your chocolate is unsweetened = bitter.
Remember too instead of unsweetened chocolate and melting it – it is easier to use 3 or 4 tablespoons of cocoa and 1/2 to 1 tablespoon of butter to substitute for each ounce of chocolate in a square. Blend it in with your butter and sugar and eggs.
You could mix the cocoa powder in with the flour too but smooth out any lumps.
