Archives for Cooking Light Desserts category
Hey everybody!
This weekend I am having dinner at my boyfriends Great-grand Fathers house who is 92, we usually go over with a pizza or something light. He is a very good man and I want to cook something nice, to let him know how much we appreciate him. I was thinking traditional, roast lamb with vegetables etc, he probably hasn’t had that in a while, or something along those lines…
I don’t want to go too fancy as I will be cooking it at my house, then taking it over. I’m open to any suggestions, also I plan to cook dessert .
Thank you!
Looking to make for a different kind of recipe for Christmas Dinner. Maybe something that you light on fire at the table, individual trifles, or a souffle. I am an intermediate cook and can handle harder recipes but looking for a wow factor!
I am 14 and im gonna cook dinner for my family. However, i think my choice of dishes are a little too heavy. Im thinking of couscous lasagna, quiche and cheesecake. Can someone suggest a lighter sidedish/ maindish/ dessert and a good recipe? thanks:) or any changes?? i need it to be easy.. Also, my dad cant eat spinach/ nuts (he has gout) so can anyone suggest a recipe that fits that? thanks:)
Is this a good diet for someone who wants to MAINTAIN a low weight with a SLOW metabolism?
Breakfast at around 7:30 am:
1 glass of Soy Milk Light (Silk brand)
1 fruit (usually banana)
2 egg whites
Multi-vitamin, fish oil pills, and Vitamin C tablet
Maybe a cup of Black coffee with NO sugar or milk
Between Breakfast and Lunch MAYBE a sugar-free Red Bull (which is only 10 calories and has so many great vitamins!)
Lunch at around 12pm-1pm:
Salad of Baby Spinach and Raw Carrots with NO dressing other than maybe a little lemon juice squeezed on
1 Fruit
1 non fat Yogurt
Maybe some kind of Fruit Juice or Water
Snack around 3-4 pm:
Either some unsalted Cashews, OR Almonds, OR 1 can of chunk light Tuna, OR a Fruit, OR some Dried Seaweed packets, OR 16oz of Soy Milk Light, OR non fat Yogurt, OR 1 piece of Fiber Bread Toast with 1/2 Red Kidney Beans on it, OR some raw carrots.
Dinner around 6pm-8pm:
4-5 oz of Baked Fish (usually Salmon)
1/2 cup of Brown Rice, cooked with no oils or added calories
1 cup of a Steamed Grean Leafy Vegetable (usually Asparagus or Broccoli)
MAYBE a 1/2 cup Red Kidney Beans OR a serving of raw avocado
Water
Then MAYBE dessert before 8pm:
A popsicle which is only 35 calories
OR a sugar free jello OR fruit OR glass of milk
I am a pescetarian (meaning the only meat I eat is Fish) and I just want to know if this way of eating will help me maintain a weight of 90 lbs at 5’0 with a slow metabolism.
I am 16 years old by the way and of course I am in school all day, and I am fairly active, I have many afterschool activities, and I am in a dance program at my school. I also use my gym membership sometimes and go and workout on the elliptical machine. I do crunches/ 5lb weights for arms/ squats/ stretching everyday to keep myself tone. But I know I have a REALLY slow metabolism. So lets just say without any exercise, would this diet help me maintain my weight? Thanks!:D
(of course once in awhile I MIGHT cheat on special occasions and stuff but I would try to do it healthily like dark chocolate or whole grain bakery goods or sugar free candy. But I’m usually good and don’t have much an appetite or sweet tooth)
Okay lets say that I am your boyfriend & we have been dating for almost a year. I am a very skinny and very athletic & energetic guy. You and I live in a nice town home together & just the two of us live there. So on a Friday I decide to use a personal day at work and take the day off without you knowing about it because you leave for work before me every morning. So right after you leave for work, I start to clean the whole house, clean the kitchen, clean the bathroom, vacuum and organize everything and make everything is super clean and tidy. I even put in new air freshener’s all over the house to make the place smell very good. I go out to buy 2 sets of fresh roses & a lot of nice scented candles. I go to the grocery store and I buy some nice things for our dinner & dessert tonight. I come home, I take a shower, put on some very nice clothes and cologne. Then I put the 1st set of roses in a nice vase on the table where we eat & the 2nd set of roses I keep just for you. I cook dinner which is grilled salmon, baked chicken, baked potatoes, stuffing, and for dessert I bake a nice fresh apple pie. I light the scented candles all over the house and I dim the lights to make it more romantic. It is now night time and you come home from work and you are hungry. You walk through the door to a super clean and very good smelling house and you walk into a dim lit kitchen with me standing in front of the table with the food and roses on it and I am holding a set of roses in my hand and I am smiling. I ask how your day was at work and then I say to you, "Dinner is served my beautiful princess" then I take your hand and kiss it. Girls, how would you reward me? When you walked into the kitchen, what would be your reaction when you see me, the food, the candles, and the roses and all the hard work I did all day just for you? & What would be the first thing you would do and say to me after I kissed your hand? Would you do anything special for me? I am planning to do this for my girlfriend and I just want to see what you would do if I was your boyfriend and I did this for you? So girls, I would really like to hear your opinions on this! Thank you for reading this and thank you for answering this!
The restaurant aspect will have many ethnicities of food in it, from Chinese to German to Italian to ‘American’ foods like burgers and hotdogs. Mostly, they’ll be quickly made meals with a few longer-to-cook meals for the dinner section of the menu. We’ll also have lots of different desserts/baked goods.
Being as my fiance is in active duty with the army, my cafe will also have large military discounts for active duty and veterans and their immediate family members(mom and dad, kids, and spouse). They’ll get one free cup of coffee per day and 50% off their total order.
We plan to serve alcohols such as wine, beer, daiquiris, etc. but nothing really hard, mostly light alcoholic beverages.
Our aim is for a modern, comfy, relaxing environment that’s fun, at the same time. We’ll have live small-town bands and singers perform(mostly acoustics and no really loud music to keep the relaxing factor) and have a separate game room/lounge for people to hang, even if they don’t buy anything. We’ll also have special events like, on Halloween and New Year’s, we’ll have according themes and stay open until midnight(or, in the case of New Year’s, 12:30 or 1:00 or so).
What kind of name would you suggest? We’d want something to convey that it is a relaxing but fun and modern place.

I am having some friends over tomorrow night for a meal For the main we are having an Italian Buffet (Pizza, Pasta’s, Salad and Garlic Bread). I don’t know what to cook for pudding though, I would like it to be quite posh but quick to make as I will have about 2hours 30 Minutes after school to make everything! My friends do not like cheese in desserts (That crossed out cheesecake). They Like chocolate but I was thinking something light as the main is quite fatty and heavy. What do you think? I could do 1 chocolate and 1 other any Idea’s welcome (Must be Vegetarian and Homemade).
Thanks
I am a senior in high school, and i ‘ve been since im 16 so money is not an issue for me. My girlfriend loves it when i do cute stuff for her, but i am running out of ideas. She is leaving on a week trip to Washing DC and i hinted that i was gonna do something special for her… but so far its being all talk lol…
Things ive done:
-Spelling out "I LOVE U" with candles on my bathroom floor while we took a romantic bubble bath and gave her a massage.
-Bought her a big flowing heart shaped balloon (its huuuge) and flowers to apologize after our first argument.
-Pretended to be the delivery boy in our school and brought her break fast and lunch during class.
-Gave her a singing card that wouldn’t stop saying "I LOVE YOU" during class (and she opened it during class too lol).
-Planned a two days romantic trip to San Antonio, Six flags (won her a big stuffed animal monkey (took alot of effort lol), went to a nice resturant and for dessert, i had them prepared a cake that had "happy 2 monthhs baby" written on it, and a hotel where she lost her first time to me… unfortunately it wasn’t my first.
-used one of those car paint markers and wrote all over my window. (big hearts on the passenger seat window and the dirver window- the back said honk if you think we’re cute).
-Cuddled while watching a cute movie.
-Gave her a word puzzle that when she sovled it it said "baby why are you so hot"
-Just today we went to the park and had a picnic and flew kites that i made that said (Audrey loves ian more than ian loves Audrey), and of course her’s said the opposite.
I cant remember the rest lol… But i need ideas for the special day!
Now for the special day, so far i planned to take take her grocery shopping and cook her favorite food for her (with only ingredients that begins with the letters in her first and last name), And after dinner, i prepared 24 Heart Shaped Sparklers and i am gonna light them all at the same time while i get on one knee and give her my promise ring (not to stay together forever… but just to promise not to cheat, lie, argue, and do anything that’ll hurt each other while we’re still together).
Do you guys think its too much to give her a ring?… again i took her virginity but we’ve only being together for 2 months… almost 3. Any suggestions on what else i can do? THanks YOU!!!!! Will pick best answer!

Only about 7 people were invited to joing my bf’s 21 bday bash. I am cooking quesidillas, apple & caramel dip, brushetta and bread, salsa mixed with natcho cheeze dip for our apps, pizza for dinner, a devils upside-down cake topped with fondant and chocolate covered strawberries on top companied with jello treats for dessert. I’m puchasing Yuingling (pardon my spelling), bud light and making slush for our evening to provide variety and soda of course.
I was thinking of passing out little gift bags and hawaiian neck things to be festive with glow sticks and sparklers in them for when it gets dark.. the decoration colors are black however I’m thinking of changing them to red or something bubbly. I was hoping to initate a game of pool volleyball in the dark having our glow sticks light up the night.. Maybe a game of limbo? (not sure about that one! lol)
His friends are active, not lazy farts- honestly I think they’d be up for anything!
If there’s anything else I should at-least TRY and coordinate. Like a game in the pool or something, let me know lol.
Does this sound too much like a childs party? I’ve rounded up a lot of fun 80s, 90s music to keep our night moving. This is the ONLY birthday I think should be memoriable.
